Hello,

I'd like to announce that I'm writing a book dedicated to the Corona SDK and Lua! I'll paste what I wrote on my blog, here: http://karnakgames.com/wp/2011/02/announcing-the-first-corona-sdk-book/

"This is something that has been on the works and I feel it’s time to starting talking about it already!

I’m writing the first dedicated book about the Corona SDK, and it will be published by a very good and known publisher. Although I can’t reveal which one yet.

The book will be beginner focused, but that doesn’t mean you won’t learn advanced subjects. Also if you already are a programmer or game developer, it will help you learn Lua and the whole Corona SDK.

You will learn Lua and almost all details of the Corona SDK. The book will be tutorial and example driven: you won’t read boring texts about this or that. You will be actually making games while learning Corona! It will be a ready-to-action book.

I will try to give weekly previews about the book, this way I can get your feedback of what do you think and expect. Expect more news soon!"

The Table of Contacts as well pre-orders will be available soon through the publisher website (that I'll be able to talk about soon too).

If you already have any questions or suggestions, I'd love to hear! :)

Meanwhile you can:

what publisher are you using, will there be a pre-order/rough cuts version?

Once the publisher allows me, I'll post the book link direct to their site, that will have pre-orders and rough cuts :)

Hello karnakgames,

I am new to Corona and desperate to get started!
After finishing ten apps with GS, I look forward to make the switch a.s.a.p. and if possible, start my next project on the lua platform.

Can you give us a little time line "when" the book will be available? I am really desperate to get moving!

Thanks :)

Luna,
Thank you! This is great and I will start digging right away!

All I really need is to learn how to make a simple piano so hopefully, I can find tuts that show me how to ad pictures and generate sounds when a key is clicked. Oh, and the image has to be different for when the instrument key is pressed.

@Ernst Renner,

I am also interested in Alfred's book and it will certainly be part of my book collection. His tutorials (also listed in the link) are excellent so I think the book will be very good.

Hello,
are there ANY updates on the progress or ETA?

I really want to buy it so that I can start using Corona :)

The book will be published and distributed by the nice Packt Publishing - (one of the main publishers of technical books) in printed and e-book format.

Once the book is available to pre-order, I'll post the link direct to the Packt site.

Also, the book's title will be "Corona SDK - Mobile Game Development - Beginners Guide", part of Packt's Beginners Guide series!

I have people in the educational line of work and are waiting to hear about progress with the book...? Do we have a shelf date yet?

Great to hear from you guys! :)

As for the book progress: it was due to September, but now it is scheduled to March. I'm going to make an official post about it in a week or so.

Hey,

Any plan to update the SVG Level Editor with examples? I have been waiting for a long time and many other people. I believe you are busy but don't forget about us who purchased them!

See ya & Thanks!

Hey Aiden!

I surely haven't forgotten! The Corona SVG Level Editor is my main focus, even tho the lacks of updates. That is because I'm doing something big related to it (it won't be a simple code update, it will be more than that).

Regards.
